In Baltimore, MD and the surrounding areas, we are finding more and more homes up for sale. The homes that sell fastest are the homes that have weatherization options in place, to create a comfortable living space while reducing the high costs of energy usage.
Newer items have been added to the HVAC industry to bring our systems into the future of technology. Technicians in Baltimore, MD and the surrounding areas, are using a new ultraviolet germicidal light system inside the air duct piping to sterilize the air as it flows through the air ducts and is circulated throughout the home in order to create a cleaner, healthier air supply. The UV air sterilizing unit keeps the coils clean, killing off the bacteria and mold that may exist on the condenser coils. This reduces the pathogens that can become airborne and travel through the duct system into the living space throughout the home. Allergy sufferers have noticed some great results from the overnight use of this new technology. Clean Air Heating & Air Conditioning is an air conditioning and heating repair and installation expert in Baltimore, MD and can give you details on how this new device operates and works in coordination with your HVAC system.
The latest technology in the HVAC system defines new terms for cleaner indoor air. A system that is properly installed by an expert in the air conditioning repair and installation industry will kill off airborne germs, ventilate and circulate the stale indoor air. Within the small walls of the system’s casing, we can now control our environment better than ever, thanks to the new technology and features of HVAC systems. Contact the specialists at Clean Air Heating & Air Conditioning to find out more about the new technology available to keep your home comfortable.

If it seems like the cost to heat or cool your Baltimore, MD home or business continues to rise each month in spite of your best energy conservation efforts, it may be time for an HVAC system check-up. Like people and cars, air conditioners and heating systems need to be regularly maintained for the best possible performance. Clean Air Heating & Air Conditioning, an A/C repair and installation company in Baltimore can come to your home or business to determine the cause of the inefficiency.
One of the most common reasons for heating and cooling systems to run sluggishly is that the air filter needs to be changed. Fortunately, this is easy and inexpensive to remedy. You can purchase filters from your local home improvement store or order through an air conditioning and heating repair and installation company. If someone in your home or office has allergies or asthma, investing in a more sensitive filter can help to alleviate symptoms. You can expect filters that trap a higher percentage of airborne pollutants to cost more money. To save on the cost of air conditioning and heating repair and installation, plan to check your filter monthly and change it at least once a quarter.
Other problems that may cause an air conditioner to not perform as expected include broken fans inside of the unit, refrigerant fluid that is not flowing properly, debris blocking the outside unit and more. If you have tried changing the filter and making sure the unit is turned on, it is best to contact Clean Air to do some troubleshooting. After your air conditioner is fixed, you may want to consider investing in an annual maintenance program. This will help the system run more efficiently as well as keep larger problems under control.

Spring is well under way in the Baltimore, MD area so it won’t be long before you’ll be turning on your air conditioner. Now would be the appropriate time to prepare your system for the heavy demand throughout the summer. Some air conditioning maintenance is fairly easy for homeowners. Here are five helpful tips to help you prepare your system for spring.
1. Inspect and clean or replace the air filter. This is one of the most important steps in air conditioning repair and maintenance. Research different types of filters available and choose one the same size as the unit uses now. Older units may have an odd size filter that is not carried by most stores. Some filters are filled with nylon webbing that allow them to be cleaned with a garden hose. They are referred to as “lifetime filters,” and do not require replacement.
2.Keep the drain line and drain pan clear. Emergency air conditioning repair and maintenance bills are expensive. Water backing up in the drain line is very preventable. Every month, pour a cup of bleach into the drain line. It will kill any algae or mold growing inside. If your drain lines do not allow access, an HVAC company can make one for you. Clean the drain pan of the outside unit. Debris building up can interfere with the motor or fans.
3.Have the duct work inspected and cleaned or repaired. This is the most overlooked part of air conditioning repair and maintenance. Mold, fungus and bacteria can grow inside and cause illness. An HVAC company can clean and seal it for you.
4.Install a digital thermostat. Mercury switch thermostats are notoriously inefficient. The digital thermostat can regulate the home’s temperatures and save you money.
5.Invest in an inspection of your HVAC system. If your system is older than 10 years, newer units today are far more efficient. They will run more efficiently and save money over their lifetime.

For moderate heating and cooling climates, an air heat pump system can provide you with an energy-efficient alternative to traditional HVAC systems – furnaces and air conditioners.
How does an Air Heat Pump System Work?
Similar to a refrigerator, an air pump uses electricity to transfer heat from a cold place to a warm one. In the summer, this involves moving heat from your home to the outdoors, thus making your home cooler (and vice versa in the winter).
Benefits of Air Heat Pump Systems
- Energy Efficient: Since these systems simply move heat and don’t actually generate heat, air heat pumps deliver energy four times the actual amount of electricity they consume.
- Cost-Effective: If you are heating with electricity, a new pumping system can easily trim the total amount of electricity you utilize for heating as much as thirty to forty percent, saving you money on your heating and cooling bills.
Additional Energy Efficient Heat Pumps
- Geothermal Heat Pumps: These systems transfer heat in between your home and the earth or a close-by water source, providing increased energy efficiency and lower power consumption.
Are you interested in investing in a new heat pump system? If so, the heating and cooling experts at Clean Air Heating and Air Conditioning Co., Inc. can help. Our experts will listen to your needs and provide you with economical choices that will suit you, your family, and your budget.

Furnaces can be dangerous.
Air conditioners consume high amounts of energy.
Heat pumps, on the other hand, provide energy efficient heating and cooling for both homes and businesses. These systems use electricity to move heat from a cool area (utilizing either air or ground sources) into a warm area, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer.
Heat Pumps for Heating: During cold months, these systems move heat from the cool outdoors into your house.
Heat Pumps for Cooling: During the warm months, these systems remove heat from your home, filtering it to the outdoors.
Heat Pumps are Energy Efficient: Since these systems simply move heat instead of generating it, they consume one unit of energy for every five units of heating or cooling produced. This makes heat pumps incredibly energy efficient.
Types of Heat Pumps
- 1. Air Source Heat Pumps: 30% – 40% of energy can be saved with this system when compared to traditional air conditioning units.
- 2. Geothermal Heat Pumps: These systems benefit from the constant temperature of the ground and water, the two sources from which geothermal heat pumps transfer heat. This ensures low operating costs

Most people opt for common heating and ventilation systems because that is what they are familiar with. There are, however, other, energy efficient systems available that may be better for your home or business – like Geothermal Heat Pumps (GHPs).
GHPs are nothing new to the heating and cooling world – having been around for over 70 years – but people are just now beginning to take notice of these highly efficient, energy saving systems.
What makes a Geothermal Heat Pump so Energy Efficient?
GHPs use the Earth’s heat, converting it into a source of energy. The reason this is so efficient is because absorbs heat from the within the earth where the temperature is always constant. This allows the GHP to produce higher efficiencies, from 300-600%.
Normal HVAC systems only amount to 175-250% efficiency.
Other Benefits of Geothermal Heat Pumps
•Healthier heating and cooling: The air will be cleaner, allowing ventilation to be constantly running. This is healthier than traditional air conditioning units that circulate the same stale air over and over.
•Durability: GHPs typically last even longer than traditional HVAC systems.
• Money: The energy saving properties can earn a user their money back after 5 to 10 years of use.

Is your utility bill higher than you would like? What if we told you that there were some easy ways to lower those utility bills? Now, we’ve got your attention!
The United States Department of energy reports that up to 30% of all heating and cooling is lost because of easy to fix factors, like poor attic insulation or outdated windows. Here are simple things you can do to lessen your heating and cooling costs:
1.Upgrade to an Energy Efficient System: If you are still using an outdated heating and cooling system, upgrading is the easiest way to save money. While it will cost you more upfront, your new energy efficient heating and cooling system will pay for itself over time. Contact Clean Air Heating and Air Conditioning to find out what type of system makes the most sense for you, your home, and your budget.
2.Lower Your Thermostat: Just lowering your thermostat a few degrees can save you significant money without really impacting your indoor environment.
3.Let the Sun Shine In: In the winter, open your blinds and let the sun shine in your windows (only southern facing windows), naturally making your home warmer.
4.Ventilation: In summers, ensure that your home is well ventilated. At the same time, close your blinds to block any direct sunlight.
5. HVAC Maintenance: Have your heating and cooling system professionally serviced every 6 months. This will ensure that it is working as efficiently as possible. Plus, regular maintenance of your heating and cooling equipment can help you avoid costly replacements and repairs. So give the heating and cooling experts at Clean Air Heating & Air Conditioning a call.
